Before moving to this 1927 building that the Armada repaired and restored, "Sabahattin the Fisherman" operated his restaurant in a small shop inherited from his father a few streets away.

Not widely known at the time, but irreplaceable to its devotees, Sabahattin the Fisherman has since become a fixture of the Istanbul dining scene, and in the year 2000 was on the cover of the New York Times twice!

Sabahattin comes originally from Trilye (Zeytinbag, Mudanya), a town southeast of Marmara Sea, from a family who appreciates the sea and its products.

He now welcomes guests in this traditional neighborhood wooden frame house all year round, with his sons close at hand to help him…During the summer months the tables spill out onto the street to accommodate his guests…
